It's Business, it's Business Time!

Thank you for reading the first official Linterior Stylist post!

I am thrilled to be starting this new adventure. I've wanted to have my own design business since I was a little girl, rearranging furniture in every room of the house, bringing pillows into my brother and sister's forts in the woods, and asking for new sofa slipcovers for my Sweet Sixteen. It's safe to say that my loved ones can expect to receive pillows, art, pictures frames, or some sort of craft project for any applicable gift giving event. (With that said, thank you to everyone who so kindly supported me so far!)

After graduating with a design degree and working in the field for a few years, I have resigned from an amazing design/build firm to branch out and begin my company, Linterior Stylist. Although it's going to be a tough transition (bills, hi?), I'm passionate about this vision and am so, so excited about everything that will happen from this point on.

So, how am I different from the ordinary interior design diva? I am inspired by the shirt you're wearing, the music in your car, and the way you like your coffee. I'm moved to see the details of your home represent your individuality just as much, and I'm passionate about using the least amount of time, resources, and money possible to accomplish a clutter-free, organized home full of personalized style. I want to paint walls, make custom artwork, sew pillows, repurpose furniture, find unique vintage pieces... And transform the space you're in into your space.

My goal is to work with like-minded people who adore creativity and don't mind putting their hands in the dirt. Something I've heard a lot is, "Oh, like those design shows on tv?" Yes. Like those design shows on TV. So, if you're interested in a weekend makeover sans the cameras, contact me and I'd love to get started!

With that said, here is what I've been working on lately with my first few days of my "new" job:

Room starter kits!

Each kit is between $30-$50 and includes the basics: something for the couch/bed, something for the wall, and something for the table. It's an easy way to fill up the blank spots in your room with some instant style, or a great starting point for a new space. The best part is that each kit also includes: Something handmade, something repurposed, and something recycled. It's a challenge to find coordinating pieces using and DIY sources, but the result is a 100% original collection that helps you be deco-friendly and eco-friendly!

This particular kit, "Pink Cat", has two comfy handmade pillows in an organic and fun, bright pattern. The covers are removable and made to fit over the standard Ikea throw pillows that everyone seems to have- perfect for reusing an old purchase. Three plain wooden frames were repainted and filled with hand-drawn silhouettes of cats using recycled paper... And lastly, some leftover fabric was carefully hand stitched to create a snug cover for a charcoal glass candle holder, complete with a cute little glass bead recycled from old jewelry. Voila! A funky, colorful, mini room makeover!
I'll be working on more kits that will be available on Etsy... But I'll keep previewing them as they are completed. Custom orders are more than welcome!
Thanks so much for reading, and take care!
